Scouting Lake Park at South Elgin

Lake Park (0-2) at South Elgin (2-0)

When: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Millennium Field

Last year: Lake Park 20, South Elgin 15

Last week: South Elgin 49, Metamora 26; Glenbard East 7, Lake Park 6

Outlook: The Storm attempt to upend the Lancers for the first time after dropping two previous meetings in 2006 and 2009. South Elgin enters the game ranked No. 9 in Class 8A. Lake Park looks to get on the right track after a 27-14 loss to Conant in the season opener and a 7-6 defeat at Glenbard East in Week 2. The Lancers' potential game-winning drive stalled at the Glenbard East 20-yard line when they turned the ball over on downs after 2 incompletions. This is the final season for 17th-year Lake Park coach Andy Livingston (105-62), which makes South Elgin coach Dale Schabert feel a bit nostalgic. "Andy's always done a good job and he's always got tough kids in the program," Schabert said. "They play hard and that's been Lake Park forever. (Livingston) and I have always had some pretty good battles through the years and we're pretty familiar with each other. This is his last year, so they'll be fired up. They're 0-2 and they're not going to be happy about that. They're going to come out with everything they've got." Schabert said his team is expecting everyone's "best shot" after South Elgin's convincing wins to open the season against St. Charles North and Metamora. The offensive firepower South Elgin has displayed through 2 games has been impressive, compiling 101 points and 980 total yards. Quarterback John Menken threw for 4 touchdowns and passed for over 300 yards last week. He also rushed for 145 yards and 2 more scores. Junior Adolfo Pacheco is proving to be a playmaker, whether he's running with the ball or catching it. Lake Park graduated players at 16 of 22 positions from last year's playoff team. Sophomore Zach Gehant starts at quarterback. He has completed 13-of-31 passes for 236 yards and 2 touchdowns against 2 interceptions. Sophomore running back Ronald Castaldo has rushed for 200 yards on 29 carries. Junior LaCurt Evans has gained 126 yards on 22 carries
