Scouting Johnsburg at Dundee-Crown

Johnsburg (0-2) at Dundee-Crown (0-2)

When: 7:15 p.m. Friday at the D-C Bowl

Last year: Johnsburg 55, Dundee-Crown 7

Last week: Streamwood 27, Dundee-Crown 12; Jacobs 37, Johnsburg 17

Outlook: Two teams hungry to taste victory square off in a Fox Valley Conference crossover in Carpentersville. This is the second meeting between the schools since Johnsburg joined the FVC in 2006. The Skyhawks have been outscored 73-37 in losses to undefeated squads from Grayslake Central and Jacobs. The Chargers have been outscored 68-28 by Elgin and Streamwood. The Chargers can point to an obvious reason for last week's loss to Streamwood. "If we don't turn the ball over five times in the second half, it would've helped the situation," D-C coach Mike Davis said. "We have to be more consistent on offense. We haven't been able to put anything together, which means we're leaving the defense out on the field way too long. I thought we'd be able to run straight ahead more, but we haven't been able to do that." Davis said he plans to get the ball in the hands of running back Danny Sharp more often. The senior has been limited to 72 yards rushing on 29 carries in 2 games. D-C quarterback Tanner Kotlan has completed 31-of-66 attempts for 427 yards and 3 touchdowns. He has been intercepted four times. Kotlan's top receiver so far has been senior Tulsa Bates, who has 6 receptions for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns. Johnsburg quarterback George Bielis was sacked 7 times by Jacobs last week, when the Skyhawks were held to 111 total yards.
