Scouting Christian Liberty at CICS-Longwood

Christian Liberty (0-2, 0-2) at CICS-Longwood (2-0, 2-0)

When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Cronin Field, St. Rita

Last week: Christian Liberty lost to Hope Academy 49-25; CICS-Longwood d. North Shore Country Day 24-8

Outlook: Christian Liberty had a school-record offensive effort after scoring just 47 points last season as David Sotomayor rushed for 190 yards and 3 TDs and had 84 yards receiving from QB J.D. Dulinsky. Dan Glad also ran for a TD and Jared Edmonds was a big part of the passing game. "J.D. was actually getting some time," said CLA coach Jim Calkins. "Our offensive line improved dramatically and that was a big deal. He didn't have to rush his throws." The Chargers are still looking for stronger starts and Calkins hopes the defense can shore up some containment issues from last week. "It's not a bad thing for us," Calkins said of starting out against teams a combined 6-0. "It gets us playing football early and improves us faster." Longwood won 42-0 last year.
