People in power take care of their own

You had an article in your paper early July concerning Judge Ken Popejoy. The article referred to his "leaving the scene of an accident" and other charges. I read it with great interest, but also told myself, "I'll bet he gets off with a slap on the wrist."

Well, true to form, he got off with next to nothing - a $500 fine for what he did was nothing, especially with the salary he commands. Any citizen who would have done what he did would have been nailed to the cross.

However, as I thought, he got off with very little - no censure or anything. It is one of the many things wrong with this country that is occurring right now. All this shows is that even with our vaunted judicial system some people are above the law. Those in power take care of their own - a real shame.
