Scouting: North Dakota @ NIU

North Dakota (0-1) at Northern Illinois (0-1)When: 6 p.m. Saturday at Huskie StadiumTV: NIUHuskies.com; Radio: WYLL 1160-AMSeries: North Dakota leads 1-0Coaches: Chris Mussman (12-10, third year at North Dakota); Jerry Kill (13-14, third year at NIU; 117-71 in 17th year overall).Players to watch: In North Dakota's 45-0 loss at Idaho last week, QB Jake Landry hit 19 of 34 passes for 122 yards and 2 INT. RB Josh Murray led a balanced, if mediocre, running game with 49 yards in 10 carries. Redshirt freshman LB Damon Andrews delivered 2 of the Fighting Sioux's 4 sacks.NIU junior QB DeMarcus Grady didn't fare well on Sept. 2 at Iowa State (14 of 29, 3 INTs), so former starter Chandler Harnish has moved back into the mix. Look for RBs Chad Spann (17 carries, 80 yards) and Jasmin Hopkins (5 carries, 22 yards) to get more touches this week. Safety Tracy Wilson (10 tackles) was everywhere on defense and special teams last week. The skinny: At long last, the world gets to see the payback for the 1965 Mineral Water Bowl that North Dakota won 37-20. Those were the days when both teams played at the "college level," but now NIU plays in the big-boy division while North Dakota is in its third year of transitioning to FCS ball. NIU ought to capitalize on its superior numbers with its first win of the year, but coach Jerry Kill (who'll be on the sidelines after undergoing surgery on Sept. 3) wants to see his offense play much more efficiently. The Huskies struggled on third down and that needs to be fixed if they intend to hang with Illinois and Minnesota the following two Saturdays. - Lindsey Willhite
