Festival of Vine starts Friday:The Geneva Festival of the Vine starts Friday and runs through Sunday. The schedule of events is posted at genevachamber.com/festivalofthevine.html or call (630) 232-6060 to obtain a schedule.DUI crackdown: St. Charles police are continuing a traffic safety campaign with an emphasis on impaired driving. This is the sixth year the police department has participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation's "You Drink, You Drive, You Lose" campaign. Extra officers will be on patrol through Labor Day for additional DUI enforcement. Officers also will be on the lookout for speeding and seat belt violations.School files available:The temporary files for all students in the Geneva High School Class of 2004 will be destroyed the week of Sept. 13. The records are maintained for five years following graduation, transfer or permanent withdrawal from a school district at which point they may be destroyed. Under state law, a student's record belongs to the student at age 18. Students who wish to pick up their file must do so in person and present a photo ID, or provide a parent with written permission and a photocopy of an ID. Records can be picked up at the school's counseling office, 416 McKinley Ave. For details, call Debbie Hanson at (630) 463-3830, ext. 3838.'Memories of Mom' support:Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice offers "Memories of Mom," a support group for women who have experienced the death of their mother at any age for any reason. The group meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays, Sept. 16 to Oct. 21, at FVVH offices, 200 Whitfield Drive in Geneva. The program is free, but registration is required by Thursday. Spanish interpretation is available. Fox Valley Volunteer Hospice is a community-based, nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those with life-threatening illnesses and those who have lost loved ones, serving all of Kane and Kendall counties, and parts of DuPage, Cook and McHenry counties. In addition to one-on-one support, the agency also offers medical equipment loans, adult and children's grief support groups, community education on end-of-life care and grief, and a community lending library.
