U.N. doesn't belong in Arizona debate
I was appalled to learn that President Obama has co-opted the United Nations to join his ongoing fight against the state of Arizona for their attempt to do what the federal government has consistently refused to do: secure our borders. Why is this important? Because someone has said that a nation without borders ceases to be a nation. On Aug. 20, the United States submitted a 29-page "Universal Periodic Review" (UPR) to the U.N. Human Rights Council, which outlines a laundry list of human rights abuses allegedly committed by the United States. Contained within that laundry list of so-called abuses is a direct condemnation of the legislation enacted by the state of Arizona, legislation that appears to be supported by a significant majority of the American people. That Mr. Obama should take this issue to the U.N. is an outrage. Try entering illegally into many, if not most of the U.N. member countries, and watch what happens. At best jail time (think of the 3 students held in Iran). I am writing both senators and Rep. Melissa Bean to express my extreme displeasure of and opposition to this unwarranted and disgraceful act on the part of our President and his administration. I hope many readers will take similar action.
