Scouting Grayslake Central at Woodstock North

Grayslake Central (1-0) at Woodstock North (0-1)

When: 7:15 p.m. today

Last week: Grayslake Central d. Johnsburg, 36-20; Woodstock North lost to Grayslake North, 27-15.

Skinny: Grayslake Central showed off its impressive speed in its season opener, as Joey Valdivia, Jahard Nelson and Vinnie Culhane all had big nights. Nelson opened the scoring with a 76-yard touchdown run and the Rams had the lead for good. Valdivia finished with 216 rushing yards and 3 TDs on 14 carries. Nelson rushed nine times for 109 yards and 2 scores, and Culhane finished with 121 rushing yards (8.6 average) and a touchdown. ... Second-year Woodstock North played respectably against Grayslake North, trailing only 14-7 at halftime and keeping the game close throughout. The Storm went 0-9 last year with no seniors on the team.
