Give credit where credit is due

I went out on a recent Sunday and got all four of the Sunday papers as I wanted to read the opinion sections to see how they dealt with the early withdrawal of all combat troops from Iraq.

When the president took office there were 160,000 troops in Iraq. There are now only 50,000 troops who are there to train the Iraqi soldiers. He promised to bring our troops home, and he has accomplished that. Only the Daily Herald and columnist Eugene Robinson mentioned this with a positive spin.

As I remember it, the staged scene on the U.S. aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln (where President George W. Bush proclaimed "Mission Accomplished") was front-page stuff. When someone does something really well, we need to give him credit. Thanks, Daily Herald.
