Dismayed by ECC's position

Sam MacKinney, in his letter to the editor, said he was "disappointed to see that Elgin Community College believes the taxpayers want them to help 'undocumented students,' aka illegal aliens."

I agree, but "disappointed" does not express my dismay. The law clearly states that it is a crime to enter the United States illegally. Therefore, if you do not have proper documentation to be in the United States you are a criminal and should be treated as such. Yet here we are helping illegal aliens to enroll in colleges, pushing 1 for English, watching them get free health care and taking advantage of every program they can.

Honest citizens of this country are being taxed out of a decent living to pay for these benefits.

Elected officials, college officials and business leaders have an obligation to the citizens. They talk of diversity, but Elgin, for example, is overwhelmed. No one seems to be doing anything about it. They talk about the economic benefit. Are they kidding? The time has come to stop calling it diversity and begin fixing the problem.
