Grayslake District 46 sells old support building

Grayslake Elementary District 46 just showed it's not impossible to sell a building in a down real-estate market.

District 46 officials Tuesday night accepted a $178,500 offer for a structure that formerly housed the technology, operations and maintenance departments. District 46 Superintendent Ellen Correll said she moved the departments to the main office on Frederick Road last year in anticipation of the building's sale.

Business Manager David Tylavsky said the $178,500 will be deposited in the district's operations-and-maintenance fund. He said the district was just waiting for a real-estate agent to return documents with the purchaser's signature on them to complete the sale.

Correll said a chiropractor is expected to take over what had been known as District 46's instructional support center, in front of Grayslake Middle School near Library Lane and Route 83.
