Judson women's tennis notches historic win

The Judson University women's tennis team made some history Wednesday when the Eagles won the program's first match in 12 years.

Judson reinstated tennis last year but didn't win a match. On Wednesday, the Eagles knocked off Concordia University of River Forest 8-1.

Megan Joyce, Rachel Hegel, Danielle Sum, Kristen Kress and Kirstie Shales all won singles matches Wednesday, while the doubles teams of Joyce/Hegel, Antigone Lowery/Sum and Brittany Boelter/Melissa Vivian took doubles wins for the Eagles.

"Today was a big milestone in Judson University women's tennis," said Eagles coach Art Steuber. "Where the men's team won their very first match last year the ladies and I have waited quite a long time for this day. I was very happy with our results from Saturday and the close loss gave me some great teaching and talking points. The ladies worked really hard this week and played great. I know they are excited about the win and can't wait to play again."
