Beck and followers merely ranting
I see that Glenn Beck was out on the National Mall trying to co-opt the anniversary of Dr. King's "I have a dream" speech. It seems he is trying to take back the country from the sort of people who made their way to the Mall in August 1963. Those people believed in the brotherhood of man and in social justice and in helping out "the least of our brothers." They have actually listened to the message of the founder of Christianity.
Mr. Beck doesn't get his beliefs from the gospels. He gets them from the writings of the atheist Ayn Rand. Her basic philosophy is right out of a Dickens novel. You know, if you give Oliver Twist more gruel you will never get a good day of work out of him again. This is the sort of belief that allowed 1 million Irishmen to starve to death when the potato crop failed.
The people who made it to the Mall in the summer of 1963 had been attacked by dogs and fire hoses and had their heads beaten. They were trying to vote and eat in public restaurants.
The people at the Mall in 2010 were upset because they lost a free and open election. Since the election all they have done is to throw garbage against the wall hoping it would stick. A lot of it has stuck and much of it is untrue. These people aren't ones to let the facts get in the way of a good rant. They have also tried to end all hope everywhere, wherever it may be. It is all very shameful really.
