Small sets course record with 63 at Illinois PGA
Mike Small fired a course record 63 on Olympia Fields Country Club's South Course in the second round of the 88th Illinois PGA Championship on Tuesday.
Small's round included 6 birdies and an eagle on the par 5 seventh hole. The 63 sets the competitive course record on the recently renovated South Course at Olympia Fields.
Small, the University of Illinois men's head golf coach, now enters Wednesday's final round with a six-stroke lead over Kyle Sanders, who finished the second round with a 1-under-par 70.
First round co-leader Travis Johns finished with an even-par 71 and is seven strokes behind Small.
The final round is tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday off the first and tenth tees for the low 60 and ties following Tuesday's second round.
