Fielders renew contract with Riordan for 2011

Lake County Fielders manager Fran Riordan will be returning for the team's second season in 2011, team officials announced Monday.

"When you think of the challenges Fran faced this season, he did a remarkable job," said team chairman Rich Ehrenreich. "Fran is first class, and our players mirrored that both on and off the field."

The expansion Fielders are now in the final week of their inaugural Northern League season in Zion, with a seven-game homestand starting on Tuesday.

"We were very competitive this year, and have the nucleus for big things next season." said Riordan. "Our fans and the local businesses have supported this team in every way possible, so we'll work hard to bring them a winner."
