Arlington Heights woman awakes to find shirtless stranger in home

When an elderly Arlington Heights woman peeked into her living room after hearing a loud noise Sunday evening, she found an extremely intoxicated man standing shirtless staring back at her, police said.

The woman was sleeping in her home on the 400 block of West Campbell Street when she heard a lamp crash about 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Arlington Heights police said.

When she walked into the living room, she found a shirtless 30-year-old Arlington Heights man. She told police the two made eye contact, but the man didn't say anything. The woman then retreated to her bedroom and called police.

Officers responding to the call said they found a man matching the description sitting on a curb a few blocks away from the home whom the victim later identified as the man she found in her living room.

Police say do not know how he got into the house, but the man did not take any items from the home.

Police suspect the man wandered into the wrong home while "extremely intoxicated".

He was cited with criminal trespass to a residence.
