Suburban Chicago man shot to death by police

PLANO -- A 40-year-old suburban Chicago man has been shot to death by police after he allegedly fled the scene of an accident, shot at an officer and stole a squad car.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office says Bjorn Roland of Plano was involved in a crash at about 8:30 p.m. Friday and left the scene on foot.

A sheriff's deputy who responded to the crash was looking for Roland when Roland allegedly fired shots at him.

As the deputy fled his squad car to take cover, authorities say Roland jumped into the vehicle and took off.

Roland then hit a Plano police car and fled until he was confronted by more officers.

Authorities say Roland threatened those officers and was shot.

Several officers were injured, but they've been treated and released.
