GOP should show concern for needy
An open letter to Peter Roskam and many Republican candidates:
I keep hearing about your Christian and family values, yet it seems you have forgotten that caring about your neighbors is a Christian value. You fight against any policy that will help average citizens who are struggling in this poor economy. Is that a caring, Christian philosophy?
It seems that you are willing to let those without large bank accounts fall by the wayside; they aren't important enough to care about so ignore them and their needs. When will you start practicing what you preach?
You keep harping on the "failed Obama policies" with regard to our struggling economy. Let's remember the facts; this downward spiral started under the Republican administration of the past eight years. We were already in a tailspin when Barack Obama took office. He was very clear even in the beginning that it would take years to dig out of this hole that the Republican administrations helped to dig us into. President Obama has only been in office a little over a year and a half. Nobody could turn this economy around in that amount of time, not even a Republican.
We have made improvements, but there won't be any miraculous fixes. I truly wish the candidates running for office now, and in the near future, would stop this childish, partisan mudslinging and really take our country's future into consideration. This is not about Republican or Democratic control, it is about American government, caring for the poor, the rich, the sick, the healthy and everyone in between. So, if you want my vote, then I want to see actions that show me you care about average citizens. So far, I have not seen any Republican who meets that requirement.
