Celebrate Scouting:The Batavia Depot Museum, and Batavia Boy Scout troops and Cub Scout packs will celebrate 100 years of Boy Scouting from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today on the Riverwalk, Island Avenue and Houston Street. There will be fishing, a rain gutter regatta, relay races, Order of the Arrow Dancers and other activities. The museum, at Water Street and Island, will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and has the temporary exhibit "Salute to Scouting." It features Scouting memorabilia from World War I as well as current awards and projects from today's groups in Batavia. The exhibit will be on display through Nov. 21.Marklund music party:Four local bands will showcase their talents at Marklund's Music Fest from 1 to 4 p.m. today at Marklund's Mill Creek Campus, 1S450 Wyatt Drive, Geneva. The free family-oriented festival is for the public as well as Marklund clients, their friends and relatives. Hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza will be sold. For details, visit marklund.org.Used oil collection today:A used motor oil collection will be held from 8 a.m. to noon today at the Kane County Highway Department garage, west of St. Charles at Burlington and Empire roads. Used oil will be accepted in any quantity at no charge. Oil filters will also be accepted for recycling. Empty containers (milk jugs, etc.) will be accepted at the site for disposal. Wilson St.Road closures in South Elgin:Daily lane closures starting Monday on Route 25 between Hickory Lane and Gilbert Street in South Elgin will reduce traffic to one lane. It will occur between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and last up to seven days. Also, Route 31 at McLean Boulevard in South Elgin will be reduced traffic to one lane. It will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and last for three or four days.
