Injured jockey sues Arlington Park over Polytrack

Apprentice jockey Michael Straight filed suit against Arlington Park and the makers of its Polytrack racing surface Thursday over a debilitating crash suffered a year ago.

The suit, filed in Cook County Circuit Court, cited Martin Collins Enterprises and the Keeneland Association, makers of the Polytrack surface, and charged Arlington Park and its Churchill Downs ownership with negligence.

The suit claimed the track was "uneven" and "filled with ruts" when Straight crashed last Aug. 26, resulting in paralysis and extensive back surgeries.

The suit seeks in excess of $50,000 on both of its two counts.
