Your news: White Tiger Martial Arts students compete in Nationals

Students of White Tiger Martial Arts Center, Wheeling, competed in the 2010 Junior Olympic Tae Kwon Do National Championship in Orlando, Fla., winning several medals.

The nine student medalists are:

Gold Medals: Collin Gausselin of Riverwoods, 16-year-old Sparring; Dori Lee of Buffalo Grove, 7-year-old Junior Forms; and Haeri Lee of Buffalo Grove, 11-year-old Junior Forms

Silver Medals: Andrew Maher of Long Grove, 8 year-old Board Breaking; Daniel Walczak of Prospect Heights, 7-year-old Sparring; Dori Lee of Buffalo Grove, 7-year-old Sparring; and Malachi Park of Buffalo Grove, 7-year-old Board Breaking

Bronze Medals: Leo Kim of Wilmette, 9-year-old Sparring; and Jaden Gausselin of Arlington Heights, Sparring

Opening in January 2005, White Tiger Martial Arts Center has three special teams that concentrate on competition training. Students featured attend additional practices throughout the year as a member of the special teams and also participate in a two-week martial arts camp prior to the Junior Olympics to train and prepare for the national competition. Of the 15 students who participated in the event, eight placed in the top three.
