Illinois loses starting safety Sanni for the season
CHAMPAIGN -- Illinois head coach Ron Zook says starting safety Supo Sanni will miss the football season after tearing his right Achilles tendon.
Zook said Thursday that the junior was hurt in practice on Wednesday.
Zook says his starters now will be junior Trulon Henry and senior Travon Bellamy.
Sanni is a 6-3, 220-pound Chicago Heights product. He'll be able to redshirt this season and still have two years of eligibility left. Sanni played in 11 games as a sophomore.
Zook says sophomore running back Justin Green also will now move to the secondary to provide depth.
