Fresh, homemade food featured at St. Charles restaurant
The employees at the new Gabby's Kitchen in St. Charles want to make you feel at home.
Whether it's one of the many varieties of French toast, the pulled pork or their popular "moo and oink burger" you're ordering, it's going to be homemade.
And by homemade, they mean prepared in their new home kitchen at 1650 W. Main St., just east of Randall in St. Charles. It's not prepared ahead of time, but prepared with fresh ingredients when you order your meal, manager Angelo Sellas said.
"Really, you're going to find nothing but homemade food," Sellas said. "We've got two specials daily, sandwiches, wraps, barbecue. The menu varies each day, but it's all homemade."
The restaurant opened in June, serving breakfast through dinner.
Gabby's opens at 6 a.m. each day, and closes again at midnight on weekdays, at 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and at 11 p.m. on Sundays.
Throughout the day, they offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, a full bar and of course desserts such as homemade bread pudding and cobblers.
Sellas says the menu will appeal to everyone.
For breakfast Gabby's has everything from a 12-ounce porterhouse pork chop to eight different kinds of French toast.
Starting at lunch, they have wraps, salads, sandwiches and charbroiled specialties.
They also have dinner classics, such as liver and onions, and meatloaf.
On certain nights of the week, Gabby's has special themed meals.
Thursdays are a taste of the south, with gumbo, ribs and more.
Fridays is Gabby's fish fry day.
Saturday you'll find Yankee pot roast served up specially for guests. And Sunday is prime rib night.
And then of course they have that "moo and oink burger" every day of the week. The burger is a half-pound burger topped with pulled pork, bacon, cheese and barbecue sauce, and is quite a favorite with new customers.
"We really gear up to quality food at family prices," Sellas said. "It's just very good and very affordable and it's top notch."
