Why electric rates so high

I recently saw St. Charles union electrical workers working in my neighborhood. I checked with the city and found that the average electrical worker is budgeted to make $136,000 in salary and benefits.

Mayor DeWitte admitted that the workers are making a large salary but said that he won't take action because I am the only one complaining.

Public Works Director Koenen also admitted that the workers are making a large salary. Mayor DeWitte and Director Koenen are key participants in union negotiations.

Even though the city raised electric utility rates by 6 percent in May, the increased rates are not covering costs because citizens are cutting back on usage. You would think that the city would work hard to lower costs. Instead they are planning to pay a firm $100,000 to figure out how much higher our rates should be.

If there are tea party people out there, please call the mayor's office and tell them what you think and ask how to run for mayor or councilman.
