Tributes to Bob were beautiful

A sincere thank you to all who made The River Corridor Foundation of St. Charles' 2010 Bob Leonard 5K Run and Walkathon event so successful on Aug. 7.

The cooperation and generous support of the foundation, the City of St. Charles, St. Charles Park District, Downtown St. Charles Partnership, St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club, sponsors, donors of necessary supplies, food and prize/raffle gifts, businesses who posted fliers, newspapers who published articles, all volunteers responsible for the event planning and execution, people who made pledges and all Run/Walk participants - was outstanding.

For many years Bob enjoyed meeting and working with others who shared the common goal of making St. Charles, with its riverfront, truly the "Pride of the Fox."

The mayor's dedications of the Bob Leonard Walkway and the Frank Gorham canoe launch on this fourth walk and second run was, is, and will continue to be great tributes to the efforts of Bob, Frank and others. The dedication also of a Kiwanis bench on the walkway, by the president of the club, was another remarkable tribute.

The beautiful brick walkway, canoe launch, Kiwanis bench with plaque, and rocks with plaques soon to be mounted at both the walkway and canoe Launch are wonderful. They show the fruits of many dedicated professionals, volunteers, and contributors who continue to make STC the great city it truly is.
