Muslims taking advantage of U.S.

I have read nearly all the articles both pro and con, rational and hysterical, about the proposed mosque near the World Trade Center site. While I believe there is a constitutional right for the mosque to be built, there is also the emotional appearance that the leaders behind the Cordoba House truly wish to rub our noses in it, so to speak. They know that they have the constitutional protection to build a mosque anywhere any other house of worship can be built in our nation, while at the same time reveling in the fact that it is impossible for any other house of worship to be built in the majority of Muslim nations.

Recall when John F. Kennedy ran for election and the conventional wisdom of the time questioned whether he was an American first or a Catholic first. Perhaps if Iman Rauf wants to show that his religion is Islam but his nationality is American, he will find a location out of the shadow that the towers once cast.

I personally lost 12 friends and colleagues who were at work in Towers 1 and 2 on Sept. 11, 2001.
