Death at track ruled natural causes

A 28-year-old who collapsed and died at Saturday's Arlington Million passed away from natural causes, according to Arlington Heights police.

Jason Chin, 28, was walking into Arlington Park's picnic area around 2 p.m., when he collapsed, said Cmdr. Kenneth Galinski. Chin was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, were he was pronounced dead.

On Monday, the medical examiner's office ruled that Chin died from coronary atherosclerosis, which involves a buildup of plaque on the lining of the arteries.

Police will wait for toxicology reports to come back in six to eight weeks, but do not consider the death to be suspicious, Galinski said.
