Hadassah chapter to host patio partyElgin's Chapter of Hadassah will hold a Patio Party for members, associates, and prospective members on Monday, Aug. 23. Root beer floats will be served on Gareth and Paul Sitz's deck at 653 Park St. at 6:30 p.m. Information about Hadassah's fundraising projects in Israel will be provided. A short dramatic reading will be presented to illustrate Hadassah's projects and their benefits to the residents of Israel. Instead, due to continued state funding issues, they have elected to provide a one-time funding assistance to agencies that provide essential well-being services. The event features a complete chicken dinner, all the corn you can eat and a beverage for $10 per person. Kids under age 10 get in free. There will be a 50/50 raffle, horseshoes and bingo. Proceeds benefit the Youth Sports and Challenger programs. The eight-hour course will review the rules of the road. Most insurance companies offer an insurance discount when this course is completed. Preregistration and attendance both days are required.
