Annual Hainesville Fest offers a hometown touch
A pair of bands will keep the annual Hainesville Fest rocking on Saturday.
Acts called the Jelly Bone Blues Band and Summit will handle the musical entertainment for the festival.
The fun is set to run from noon to 9 p.m. on Aug. 28 at Union Square Park, which is off Hainesville Road at the end of Patriot Drive.
The Jelly Bone Blues Band will play from 3 to 6 p.m.
"The Jelly Bone Blues Band is an awesome band, and I'm happy to say one of the members is a Hainesville resident," Mayor Linda Soto said, referring to guitarist Mark Yoder.
Summit, which is billed as a rock 'n' roll dance band performing songs from the 1950s to the present, will play from 6 to 9 p.m.
Bingo, pony rides and various skill games are on the schedule, too.
A climbing wall will be set up, as well as an inflatable obstacle course.
"We have more attractions than we have in the past," Soto said. "The obstacle course is new. We're excited about having that."
The traveling Busy Brains Children's Museum will be set up at the park, too. An arts and crafts fair is planned as well.
Food and beer will be for sale, and everyone can enjoy free popcorn.
The Grayslake and Round Lake area fire departments will be on hand, as will representatives of the Grayslake Police Department, which now patrols the village.
Some activities are free to the public, but others will require tickets or wristbands. Prices are pending, Soto said.
