Carpentersville makes offer for village manager
Carpentersville could have a new village manager by the end of the month.
After completing second-round interviews Saturday, the village board selected a finalist and extended a contract offer to that person, according to Village President Ed Ritter.
"All of the candidates had long-term village government experience," Ritter said. "One just seemed to fit a little bit better."
Ritter said the board is withholding the finalist's name until it makes a formal appointment, a move expected to take place on Aug. 31.
At least 48 people applied for the position after Craig Anderson retired from the post in early June. The board then interviewed 11 of those applicants and on Saturday conducted second-round interviews with three finalists.
Ritter would not reveal any details about the finalist other than to say the person lives in the greater Chicago area. If the board approves the finalist's contract, he or she will be required to move to Carpentersville within a year, the village president said.
Carpentersville Trustee Keith Heinz, a former construction manager in Community Unit District 300, was one of the 11 candidates who interviewed with the board. It is not known whether Heinz was among the three people called back for second-round interviews.
Ritter did not provide any details of the contract offer but said it was a one-year contract that would be submitted to the board for renewal on an annual basis. The position was advertised at around $130,000, Ritter said.
Assistant Village Manager Dawn Wucki-Rossbach has served as acting village manager since Anderson's retirement. Wucki-Rossbach has declined to comment on whether she applied for the manager position.
