Over 60 vintage Ferraris on display at downtown festival

Over 60 vintage Ferraris are on display at the Ferraris Festival, just outside of the Italian Village restaurant. Sample delectable morsels from the Italian buffet, sip Peroni beer and a variety of wines and you'll be ready for a respectable tarantella when the live music kicks in. There are also special activities just for the bambinos.

Make like Zorba and live for fun, food and dancing at the Taste of Greece in Chicago's own Greektown neighborhood. Kids can unwind in the Bouncy House, while you browse crafts and goods from the Greek Isles, watch belly dancers roll with it and get some Greek dance lessons of your own. There will be live music and samplings from the area's famous Greek restaurants.

Forecast: Fair

Some say it's the best in the nation, the Minnesota State Fair boasts an educational factor with permanent buildings set aside to teach folks about agriculture, electricity, the solar system and more. Performers will include Rush, the BoDeans, Kiss, Carrie Underwood, "A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor" and "Weird Al" Yankovic. There will be a variety of animal exhibits, horse shows and an Eco Experience showcasing renewable energy all kinds of food.

In Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in Silver City, Mich., on Lake Superior, the sixth annual Porcupine Mountains Music Festival will feature more than 30 national and regional blues, folk and bluegrass acts. Performers will include Buckwheat Zydeco and up-and-coming Michigan artists.

Days of wine and noses

Named one of Indiana's Top Ten Festivals, the 39th annual Swiss Wine Festival in Vevay offers food, arts and crafts, midway rides, fireworks, live entertainment, beer garden and riverboat cruises. Contests and events throughout the four-day event include canoe races, corn hole tournaments, cheerleader competitions and the 2010 edition of the Midwest Championship Grape Stomp. Individual and group competitors test their toe-squishing talents dressed in creative grape stomping costumes. Some of Indiana's award-winning wineries offer signature samples, glasses or bottles at the wine pavilion.

5 to 10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26; 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 27; 10:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, and 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29. Worth the trip

The Jane Austen Festival in Bath, England, kicks off with a Regency Costumed Promenade led by a town crier through the streets of the historic city as literary lovers from all over the world dress in 18th century attire. The annual September celebration of its most famous resident, Jane Austen, features a roster of activities including theater, concerts, soirees, walking tours, food, panel discussions and lots of dancing.
