Car hits BG tree, driver found in nearby bathroom

Wheeling police have arrested a Buffalo Grove man who they say hit a tree after trying to elude a traffic stop and later fled the scene of the crash Thursday night.

Carlos Solano-Ocampo, 33, of the 1000 block of Harvard in Buffalo Grove, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving on a revoked license, fleeing the scene of an accident and eluding police. An officer tried to stop Solano-Ocampo's Jeep Grand Cherokee, but the vehicle turned into a neighborhood, Wheeling Police Sgt. Victor Chirico said.

The officer turned his lights off and drove around the neighborhood and found the car had crashed into a tree at Cambridge and University. Buffalo Grove police joined the search and they later found Solano-Ocampo hiding in the bathroom of a home on Harvard where the door was left open.
