Kiwanis of Elgin to host annual barbecue benefit

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin will host its 51st annual barbecue fundraiser featuring Famous Fay's BBQ Pork Chop and Chicken Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 37W040 Highland Ave. in Elgin. It is sponsored by Sherman Health.

Cost is $12 per person. Carryout or drive-through will be available. Tickets will be available at the door or by calling (847) 909-8173.

The proceeds will benefit local children's charities, including, but not limited to: Association for Individual Development, Community Crisis Center, YWCA, Boys Scouts, Girl Scouts, Larkin Center, Ecker Center, Renz Center, Boys and Girls Club of Elgin and Literacy Connection.

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin meets at noon Tuesdays at The Hickory Stick Bar & Grille Restaurant, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands of Elgin golf course. It is $11 for lunch. Membership information is available by calling Laurie at (847) 429-5435.

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin received its charter March 9, 1920. The club has been donating funds to more than 30 deserving organizations in Elgin and South Elgin, primarily those serving children.
