Carpentersvillebull; Bond was set at 10 percent of $5,000 Thursday for Ellen M. Doolittle, 43, of the 0-99 block of Old Farm Lane, Carpentersville, who is accused of felony theft, authorities said. Court documents said Doolittle is accused of stealing 10 cartons of Newport cigarettes from the Quick Mart Citgo, 170 Lake Marian Road, on Aug. 16. She is due in court on Sept. 1.Elginbull; A woman's purse, containing about $180 and her cell phone, was stolen at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday after a man held a gun to her head in a common area at an apartment in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive, reports said. His bond was set at 10 percent of $10,000 and he is due in court on Aug. 27, authorities said.Kane County bull; A mailbox on the 41W000 block of Derby Lane, near Huntley, was reported destroyed July 27 by a makeshift bomb, according to a police report. Police said the explosive device included a mixture of unknown chemicals and aluminum foil inside a plastic bottle, which was placed in the mailbox. A second bomb was thrown at a garage door at the same home but did not cause any damage, police said. The incident occurred between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., according to the report. bull; Several stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator, freezer, microwave and oven, were reported stolen Monday from a foreclosed home on the 06N500 block of Kim Lane, near St. Charles, police said. The theft occurred sometime between 10 a.m. Aug. 13 and 9 a.m. Monday. bull; A vending machine and a 1978 International truck tractor were reported damaged Monday at Hampshire Farms, on the 14N800 block of Route 20. The owner told police the vending machine's glass cover was smashed, and an unknown amount of chips and candy were taken. Police said the tractor's freezer was turned off, and a wiring harness in its cab was damaged.
