Trolleyfest running with Riverfest Express

Feet tired from walking all over the Riverfest Express grounds?

Time to visit the Fox River Trolley Museum's annual Trolleyfest, scheduled for the same weekend.

Although not located on the same grounds as Riverfest Express, the South Elgin museum, at 361 S. La Fox St., will open its doors to festival goers and offer trolley rides to and from the museum and Jon Duerr Forest Preserve.

In addition, the Aurora, Elgin and Fox River Electric Car 304 makes its triumphant return to the museum for the first time in 75 years, and will be one of the cars available for rides.

Don MacBean, managing editor of the Fox River Lines, the official publication for the Fox River Trolley Association, said tickets are now on sale for the weekend hours of operation, and can be purchased in advance and on the day of the event from the museum.

Tickets for adults are $3.50, while tickets for children 12 and under and seniors are $2.

A special all-day pass for rides will also be available for the Sunday hours, but a specific price was not readily available.

The museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. For more information, visit foxtrolley.org or call (847) 697-4676.
