Bataviabull; Kenneth W. Houlne, 51, of the 1100 block of West Wilson Street, was arrested at 10:53 p.m. Tuesday and charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and two counts of resisting police, according to a police report. Authorities said officers were called to Houlne's apartment after he threatened a woman there with a knife. At the scene, police said, Houlne became uncooperative with an officer and was taken into custody. He later kicked the officer in the groin as he was being placed into a squad car.St. Charlesbull; David Peter Toedter, 56, of the 200 block of Walnut Street, was arrested Friday on charges of criminal trespass, according to a police report. Toedter was asked to leave a homeless shelter on the 200 block of Walnut Street after refusing to attend alcohol treatment meetings. Toedter re-entered the locked and secured building despite the notice. Police found him sleeping in a bed on the second floor. Police removed Toedter and told him not to return. Toedter was later found standing on the property of the homeless shelter. Police returned and arrested him. bull; Adam Andrew Gruszka, 26, of the 1700 block of Allen Drive in Geneva, was arrested Saturday on charges of battery, according to a police report. Gruszka was observed interacting with a female patron of a tavern on the 300 block of West Main Street. Gruszka was telling the woman she was overweight and needed to eat more. The encounter continued outside after the woman left the tavern and Gruszka followed her with more comments about her weight. The woman then turned and slapped Gruszka. A man who was walking with the woman then told Gruszka to leave the woman alone. When the man turned his back, Gruszka punched him in the side of the face, police said. The man who was punched fell into a parked car and lost consciousness. Gruszka then fled the scene despite attempts to detain him until police could arrive. At some point Gruszka lost his pants. Police located Gruszka and took him to the police station. Gruszka told police he was attacked as he left the tavern for an unknown reason. He denied telling any woman at the tavern that she was fat.bull; Marco Antonio Cruz Jr., 20, of the 2300 block of Harbor Lane in Hanover Park, was arrested Saturday on charges of retail theft. A police report indicates store security at Sears, in the 3700 block of East Main Street, observed Cruz leave the store with a gas can he had not purchased. Cruz told police he intended to pay for the gas can and had just left the store to locate his girlfriend.
