Police make $300,000 pot bust in Arlington Hts.

Acting on a tip from a confidential informant, Chicago police arrested an Arlington Heights man after finding $300,000 worth of marijuana growing in his home.

Police searched Stanford Kim's home in the 100 block of South Rammer in Arlington Heights at about 11 p.m. on Tuesday. Inside, they found more than 100 marijuana plants and bags of crushed marijuana, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department.

Officers also found equipment used for growing, cultivating, and processing cannabis plants, along with two handguns, ammunition and a small amount of cash.

Police are not sure if Kim lived alone at the house, according to a police department spokesman. He would also not comment what Kim planned to do with the marijuana.

Kim, 29, was charged with two felonies and two misdemeanors. He is scheduled to appear in Central Bond Court today in Chicago.
