Police, fire departments probing Waukegan blaze
Waukegan authorities were releasing few details on a Wednesday afternoon house fire that remains under investigation.
Batallion Chief John Schmidt said the blaze was reported on the city's northwest side at 3:50 p.m., but he declined to name the street or provide other information. He said there were "complications" with the fire and rescue effort.
Waukegan police and the city's fire prevention bureau were investigating the incident, Schmidt said.
Gurnee, Newport Township, North Chicago, Beach Park and Great Lakes Naval Station fire departments assisted Waukegan. Schmidt said the fire was struck by about 4:35 p.m. Wednesday.
