Name calling isn't what we're about
I don't know who I'm more upset with - the person who recently wrote a letter to the editor comparing the current majority party to Nazis and Russians, or the Daily Herald for printing the letter. Letters of this type are totally out of line.
Whether you agree with a politician's views, or not, to make that type of comparison is truly anti-American. This country was founded on the premise that even though you might disagree with someone's viewpoints, you support their ability to express their viewpoints.
Additionally, to take an attitude that every current politician in office should be voted out is unbelievably shortsighted. I want all Americans to vote for those candidates who they feel are going to do the absolute best for this country. When the dust settles, I may not politically agree with the viewpoints of the person who got elected, but I would never refer to them as a Nazi, a Russian or a Socialist.
There have been various times in this country's history where one party has controlled Congress and the White House. During those times, many good things were done for this country.
I'm more afraid of voting in someone whose views I don't know but is simply parroting some party line than I am voting for someone whose record I do know.
To the letter writer: Since judges are appointed for life, it is impossible for the Democrats to control the judicial branch now. If someone thinks that one party controls the judicial branch, and that decisions are being made due to political considerations, then this country is in trouble.
Like it or not, Americans are all working for the best for this country. By going down this type of road, you only demonstrate what little tolerance you have for the other person's point of view. That is not what we're about.
