Man charged with stealing parts of car at St. Charles dealership

A 38-year-old Chicago man is charged with felony theft and criminal trespass to property after police said he removed running boards from a Honda Pilot at a St. Charles car dealership, police said.

Andrzej Butkiewicz, of the 3700 block of Shire Street was arrested after a call for a theft in progress from McGrath Honda, 1411 E. Main St. around 1:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Witnesses said they saw the man underneath a Honda Pilot SUV removing the running boards, police said. Police noticed the man leaving the area in a white pickup truck and stopped him. Police said they found mechanical tools and a box of latex gloves on the seat of the truck. Butkiewicz posted bond Monday, officials said.
