Weight Watchers members to share secrets of their success
With summer ending, some of the most tempting times to eat badly are fast approaching.
There's Halloween with its enticing individually wrapped candies, Thanksgiving with all of the fixings, and then of course the ultimate feast in temptation, Christmas and all of its home-baked creations.
The Weight Watchers along Randall Road in Algonquin opened in its new location - the first of its kind right inside of a Meijer grocery story - in the midst of that temptation, last December.
And since that time, its members have had pounds and pounds of success, said Amy Loukota, the Weight Watchers territory manager for northern Illinois.
They are now ready to show off their success to the public, and help you get on a healthier track too, she said.
Saturday, they are hosting "Success Stories of Algonquin Weight Watchers" at their location inside of Meijer, 400 S. Randall Road.
"We're coming to the end of summer and people are starting to realize that they maybe had a goal in the beginning of the year, and it's fallen by the wayside and they're looking to get back on track before the holidays," Loukota said.
People who have had success losing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with Weight Watchers will share their successes starting at 1 p.m., Loukota said.
There will be a panel of six people who together have lost more than 500 pounds, she said.
They will share their stories, and answer questions the public might have.
"They'll share what's working for them, some realistic changes they've made and the lifelong journey they've been on," Loukota said. "That's the consistency in all of these stories. They realize they can't do the yo-yo dieting any more. They are sharing what works for them."
Loukota said people will be amazed and impressed at their stories.
"I know I've been doing this my whole life, but this is just amazing. I'm just wrapping my head around what they've done and it's just phenomenal," she said. "I'm just so excited. It's going to be incredibly inspiring."
After their stories, the Weight Watchers also will offer free samples, BMI checks and demonstrations.
Everyone who attends also will get discounts on various products, Loukota said.
To check it out, head to Meijer, and go in the south entrance of the store, where the Weight Watchers is located.
