School bailout bad idea for taxpayers
The "Teacher funding on way" article on Aug. 11 left me dumbfounded and truly disgusted at our Congress. During these times, with a true unemployment rate of over 10 percent, our Congress spends $26 billion we don't have and spends it only on teachers, police, firefighters and other state employees. Those jobs are important but no more important than the millions who are out of work and looking for jobs.
The article also says $12 billion will be raised by cutting food stamps to the poor, affecting 40 million people. Sen. Durbin, you should be proud!
What a shame that politics enters our daily lives at an ever-increasing rate. The only reason this was done is that this administration and this Congress is beholden to the unions. You should be proud to overtax the very people who pay your salaries, benefits and perks.
