Verdict reached in Blagojevich trial

The jury has reached a verdict in the Blagojevich corruption trial.

The verdict will be read at 4:15 p.m.

Defendants Rod and Robert Blagojevich and attorneys in the case have been called to the Dirksen Federal Courthouse in Chicago before the verdict is read in the courtroom of Judge James Zagel. Several FBI agents arrived in court in preparation for a verdict.

Former Gov. Blagojevich faces 24 counts including racketeering, wire fraud, bribery, extortion, conspiracy and lying to federal agents for alleged crimes including the connection of government acts with campaign donations and auctioning an appointment to the U.S. Senate. His fundraiser brother, Robert Blagojevich, shares four of those charges, including wire fraud, attempted extortion and conspiracy.

Blagojevich entered the building with his wife Patti at about 3:50 p.m. He was clearly in a hurry to get to the courtroom, but couldn't resist shaking hands and high fiving well wishers. He then asked the media to "say a prayer for us."

Meanwhile, the federal court clerk's office released a statement saying that there is a verdict in the case. It will be read at the pending court hearing.
