Stand off at Bartlett house ends peacefully with suspect's surrender

A four-hour standoff ended Tuesday morning when a 48-year-old man who barricaded himself in a house surrendered to Bartlett police, officials said.

Sgt. Geoffrey Pretkelis of the Bartlett Police Department said officers were called to the 100 block of Joseph Court at 12:30 a.m. after a report the 48-year-old man had barricaded himself inside the residence, was suicidal, and was possibly armed with a weapon.

Pretkelis said police notified the Northern Illinois Police Alarm System Emergency Services Team, the Bartlett Fire Protection District, and other area law enforcement agencies to assist at the scene.
