Arlington Heights stepping up traffic enforcement

As part of a Holiday Mobilization Grant awarded to the Arlington Heights Police Department, the following traffic enforcement activities will take place between Friday, Aug. 20, and Monday, Sept. 6.

As the Labor Day holiday approaches, Roadside Safety Checkpoints will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 20, along west Dundee Road, and on Saturday, Aug. 28, along south Arlington Heights Road. The checkpoints will begin shortly after 10 p.m., and continue through 3 a.m.

During the Roadside Safety Checkpoints, officers will slow traffic, stopping cars at predetermined intervals. In addition to the Roadside Safety Checkpoints, several DUI saturation patrols will be conducted during the enforcement period. The awarded grant funds supplement regular patrol units with additional patrol cars, and officers committed to seeking impaired drivers.

The Arlington Heights Police Department is committed to traffic safety. The purpose of the program is to identify motorists, who chose to drive while under the influence of alcohol, and/or drugs, The You Drink, & Drive, You Lose, Labor Day Holiday Campaign, is funded by a grant from the National Highway Safety Administration and the Illinois Department of Transportation - Division of Traffic Safety.
