Chimps served well, deserve better fate
At the Holiman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, N.M., something terrible is happening. There are 200 chimpanzees that are retired from the space program after serving 50 years as test subjects so that our astronauts could be safe and our space program successful. These animals were used because their physical and emotional makeup is so similar to humans, but now the Air Force is sending them to Texas to be used for medical experiments. After so many years of suffering pain and fear, they deserve to live out what is left of their lives in peace. The oldest female, named Flo, is 50 years old. The astronauts who owe so much to these creatures should show their gratitude by speaking out for them.
