Dems to blame for financial mess
President Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid continue their attempt to rewrite history. After 19 months in office they continue to blame President Bush for everything referring to "the eight years of failed Bush economy."
Apparently they forgot that in mid-2007 America had the strongest economy in decades. The stock market was at an all-time high, 14,164, interest rates were extremely low, unemployment was at virtual full employment, 4.6 percent.
Due to the Bush tax cuts for all Americans, 40 million Americans paid no tax whatsoever. And it led us out of the recession that Clinton left after the dot-com bubble burst in his final year in office.
The "rich" received an 11.6 percent decrease in taxes (39.65 percent to 35 percent). The lowest bracket received a 33 percent decrease (15 percent to 10 percent).
Currently, the top 25 percent of taxpayers pay 97 percent of the total tax bill. Apparently Obama doesn't feel that's enough. Included in that are small businesses who file as individuals and create more than 60 percent of the jobs, which they will be reluctant to do if their profits are reduced.
Plus, it is Congress that determines the budget and spending. Guess who has controlled Congress since 2007? The Democrats.
Since the Dems took control of Congress the unemployment rate went from 4.6 percent to 9.5 percent. So while Obama spends us to more than $13 trillion in debt ($47,000 for every man, woman and child) and growing, he can look at his own party as the primary culprit. But that would require him to actually take responsibility for something.
