Why not break all the laws?
After reading the article, "Relief for Illegal immigrants?" in the World and Nation section of the July 31 newspaper, I felt compelled as a good citizen of this country to try to help the national government on this quest.
Since they are unable to stop the flow of illegal entries into this country, they want to help them out until they can change the law. Since this is America and land of equal opportunity, let's not just stop with helping the illegal immigrants; let's get relief to all the criminals in this country. Some of my ideas follow.
• Bank robbers can keep half of the money they steal if they give the other half to the government to pay down the national debt.
• Car thieves can keep the cars they steal if they can tune them up to pass the emissions standards.
• Speeders, let's be lenient on the speed limits on the roads during rush hour since this might be a faster way of clearing up traffic.
• Prostitution, as long as they can average at least 90 percent on a customer satisfaction survey, we'll let them go on with their business.
• Drug dealers, sure, if they promise not to sell to kids under 21.
When is our government going to man-up and handle the situation in a responsible and sensible way?
