Don't just say no to Obama
GOP Senators Kyl, Inhofe and Demint are planning to block ratification of the new Start Treaty although every foreign policy expert has endorsed the plan to limit nuclear weapons. Even though President Obama has agreed to spend $80 billion to modernize our weapons and the Start I treaty expired in December, the Republicans are again planning to block the treaty.
It is another example of the Republicans using the threat of a veto to obstruct anything that is initiated by Obama. The GOP doesn't care about merits of legislation, the qualifications of appointees or the value of important treaties ... all they care about is saying "no" to any Obama initiative.
The GOP didn't say no to Bush when he went to war in Iraq and Afghanistan without a workable strategy or a way to pay for them. They didn't say no to two tax cuts for the rich that increased the deficit by $1 trillion. They didn't say no to Cheney's secret energy policy that brought us the BP disaster in the Gulf.
The GOP senators only care about defeating Obama, not what is good for the country. They even blocked a tax cut for business last week that they had helped draft.
