Your News: Barrington's Big Red U12 places 17th in national tournament

Twelve-year-old travel team competes against 103 teams in Cooperstown, N.Y.

In June, Big Red players and their families began their whirlwind spin around the bases. Before the team landed in Cooperstown, N.Y., Big Red won three, first place USSA tournaments and received two second place finishes in Wood Bat competitions.

Under the leadership of coach Mike Day, Big Red headed to Cooperstown the last 10 days of July. Coming up against numerous state-required teams, the team captured the number one seed after six games of pool play.

Ending this week-long tournament, Big Red finished 17 overall out of 103 teams. An impressive display of talent for a hometown team, who has played together since they were 8 years old.
